Some Things Should Be Left Behind

Your tear-filled eyes
Can see within
The guilty eyes avoiding yours
Which turn away with sin.

You continue to stare into me,
Knowing my eyes cannot hide
From your eyes and soul,
Despite my pride.

You turn away from me.
What did you expect to find?
These accusations come to truth;
Some things should be left behind.

This eerie silence won’t subside
As I succumb to your shiftless sight.
Your eyes search deeply into mine,
And quietly avoid the fight.
